OUR HISTORY
2019
New Generation at the Helm
After leading significant growth, Sarah Loveday was appointed Managing Director of Loveday Electrical in February 2019. Sarah’s passion and drive continue to take Loveday Electrical to new heights.
2018
Celebration of an Amazing Woman
In June 2018, it was with mixed emotions that we celebrated the Retirement of our Director Heather Loveday. Heather joined her husband Bob at Lovedays in 1988 in St George, and early on Heather put her hand up to help with anything – from crawling under old Queenslanders to help Bob clip cables, right through to her final role as Director and financial pillar at the centre of Loveday Operations.
The whole business came together to toast to an amazing career, with many of their own careers starting with a phone call from Heather to say they had “got the job/apprenticeship”. Heather now enjoys an adventurous lifestyle trekking across the world mixed with spending quality time with her beautiful grandchildren, family and friends.
2018
Our New Sydney Branch
In April 2018, on the back of a 20+ year relationship with Plantation Homes and the Henley Properties Group, Loveday Electrical was engaged to partner with the NSW division of Henley, Edgewater Homes, to complete the ongoing electrical services for around 200 new homes per year. This opportunity saw the expansion and establishment of our Smeaton Grange Branch in South West Sydney.
2017
A Year to Remember
2017 saw some of our busiest times reaching a significant growth milestone. In the same year Loveday Electrical was named Master Electrician of the Year and Women in Contracting for South Queensland. As Loveday’s grew so did our business systems – this growth period saw a lot of changes and operational improvements, resulting in increased efficiency and better client outcomes.
2016
Paper to the Cloud
In July 2016 Loveday Electrical traded in our paper-based job management systems for SimPRO, which was complemented by the switch from MYOB to Xero for our accounting software. This change marked a new era within the business where we were no longer relying on the Caboolture based on-site server to be able to manage our workflow, providing agility and flexibility in the way we could now offer services to our clients. All with greater visibility for our onsite staff, managers and clients alike.
2015
A Fresh Face
In December 2015 our Caboolture Office underwent renovations to suit operational changes and provide a modern and fresh environment for our expanding team. This included the addition of a Consultation Office with Product Display Area, the expansion and improvement of our Apprentice Training Room and the reconfiguration of our office space to include an additional five workstations.
2015
Next Generation of Leaders
In August 2015 Sarah Loveday hung up her tool belt and proudly stepped into the role of General Manager. With this, Sarah brought the enthusiasm of youth, and started working hard to improve efficiencies and drive customer focussed outcomes.
2015
30 Years in Business
In May 2015 Loveday Electrical reached 30 years in business. Over this time Bob and Heather Loveday proudly built a dynamic family business, while working in the company alongside their daughter Sarah, and son Frank.
2007
Office Expansion
As Loveday’s continued to grow, so did our administration team. Our need for a larger office space was answered in 2007 when an additional 150m2 was added. This included a second level, upgrades to the kitchenette, reception, an additional seven offices and a fire-proof filing room.
2006
Expansion into Refrigeration
In 2006 we established our Refrigeration Division, and since then we have been able to offer our customers a more complete service, with both electrical and air-conditioning installation and repair services available.
2005
A Second Generation
This year saw the arrival of Sarah Loveday as an apprentice, and not long after, her brother Frank. Loveday Electrical was now a bona fide family business, spanning two generations of Lovedays.
Within just a few short years, a total of six Loveday family members worked at Lovedays, with five of them completing and electrical apprenticeship with the business
2003
Moved to 2/88 Lear Jet Drive
With new staff, we needed new (read bigger) premises, so we purchased our new home at 2/88 Lear Jet Drive in Caboolture.
1989
A New Home in Caboolture
Loveday Electrical relocated to Caboolture to take advantage of the increasing population on the northside of Brisbane up to the Sunshine Coast. Our services shifted from agricultural to residential construction and maintenance. We also increased our employees to more than twenty tradespeople and support staff. Over the next few years Loveday’s became a trusted local name, known for delivering high quality and diligent services.
1988
One Man Band to Family-Run Operation
After just three years in business we took our first step in becoming the family-run business that we are today when Bob’s wife, Heather Loveday, joined the business full time as the Primary Office Administrator.
1986
Expansion into NSW
We became a licensed NSW Electrical contractor and began to service the regional northern NSW towns of Boomi, Mungindi, Lightning Ridge, Goodooga and other surrounding areas.
1985
Loveday Electrical Established
Loveday Electrical was established on 21 April 1985 in the small town of St George in western Queensland. Servicing the local agricultural industries, we were originally located at Thallon Road in the industrial area of St George.
At this time our main services included farm irrigation, agricultural watering and fertilising systems, maintenance and installation work for local sawmills and meat processing plants, as well as other commercial and industrial construction projects.
